Pre-Conference Diversity Group
This will take place on Friday evening (4 July) from 6-9pm, on Saturday (5 July) 9am-5pm and on Sunday (6 July) 9am-12pm. Colin Lago, Margaret Warner and three other facilitators, drawn from diverse ethnic backgrounds and skilled in this area of work, will facilitate the group. Only 45 places are available and these will be allocated in such a way as to ensure an appropriate diversity of membership. Early application is essential. When the group is full this will be made clear on the pce 2008 Website. Only those attending the full conference are able to participate in the Diversity Group.
Colin Lago describes the aims of the group as follows:
‘This is a “diversity” group in that we are inviting people who would welcome being in a person-centered group in which some or all of the members have an interest in focusing on or exploring issues of difference. We aspire to be “person-centered” in that we have no preconceptions as to what sorts of difference should matter to people in the group, how people should think about diversity, or what people choose to talk about once the group begins. This group will simply be trying to “keep the conditions” by being genuine ourselves, and empathic and prizing toward the experience of others in the group.’
Cost (including two nights’accommodation): £200
